Two of the world's most popular music entertainers, Billy Joel and Elton John will stop at Firstar Center as part of their current blockbuster "Face to Face" tour on Mother's Day. Both stars are members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and have made a significant impact on popular music. Billy Joel, a five-time Grammy Award winner, began playing piano as a child. He has repeatedly hit the charts throughout his career with favorites such as "She's Always a Woman," "Piano Man," and "Uptown Girl." In 2000, he hosted the PBS special "PIANO GRAND! A Smithsonian Celebration," a 90-minute star-studded musical tribute to the piano's 300th anniversary. British pianist and songwriter Elton John has been recording and performing for more than thirty years. During the mid-1970's, John assembled a string of seven number one albums in three and a half years, including Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Caribou. Throughout the 1980's and 1990's, Elton John continued to churn out hit after hit, including "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me," and the 1997 hit re-make of "Candle in the Wind," dedicated to his friend Princess Diana. In recent years, he has written the music for the Broadway smash The Lion King and begun work on the score for the new stage musical of AIDA. They both will perform separately and together at the Firstar Center. This double-headliner show is certain to be one of the best, hit filled concerts of 2001. Tickets at $175, $85 and $45, go on sale Saturday, February 10th at 10:00 AM at Firstar Center Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including Thriftway stores, at Ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 513/562-4949.
