Performance Of As You Like It For AARP Members - Cincinnati Event

AARP members and their guests are invited to a free performance of William Shakespeare's As You Like It on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 pm at the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company.

As You Like It is one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies. The play features the clever Rosalind, who was banished to the forest of Arden and dresses as a man for protection. In the woods, she is shocked to discover the trees are covered with love poems written to her "real" self by the handsome Orlando. Hiding behind her boyish disguise, she puts Orlando's love for her to the test.

Though admission is free for AARP members and their guests, tickets are required by calling the box office at 513-381-2273, ext. 1. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. A cash bar and hors d'oeuvres will be available. The theater is at 719 Race St. in Downtown Cincinnati.

"This would be a fun way to end the Thanksgiving weekend by enjoying a timeless classic with other local AARP members," said Nicole Ware, AARP's associate state director.

The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company described the characters as "hilarious," the music "delightful," and the romance "warm-hearted."

Writing in CityBeat, theater reviewer Rick Pender called the production a "good-natured choice for the holidays". Actress Sara Clark, who plays Rosalind, is an "audience favorite," he wrote. "She excels with verbal comedy, so be prepared to laugh."

For the rest of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's 2015-16 Subscription Series, AARP members are eligible for a 15 percent discount, except for Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)
