Lewis and Clark:  Events AFTER the Expedition with Peter and Gudrun Seifert - 6 pm

This is a two session series, with each session lasting one hour. Session one occurs on Oct. 22.
The story of the expedition itself being well known, our second part begins in September 1806 as the Corps of Discovery successfully returns to St. Louis. The celebrations, the hero's welcome, who arrived, who is missing? How about Sha Ha Ka and his family? On the triumphal journey to Washington DC, do you know which way they went, who came along, where did William Clark go first and why? Let us imagine what was said when Lewis meets President Jefferson in the White House on New Year's Day, 1807,  both kneeling on the floor studying Clark's masterful map.  Later - stress, conflicts and tragedy -- outshone by the symbols of success, the "Journals" and the map of the United States, as we know it today.

All programs are free and open to the public - Light refreshments provided
