Lewis and Clark: Events BEFORE the Expedition with Peter
and Gudrun Seifert - 6 pm
This is a two session series, with each session lasting one hour. Session two occurs on Nov. 19.
In this first session, the Seifert's will examine events and visions leading up to the famous expedition. Special attention will be paid to the Louisiana Purchase and the leadership of President Jefferson, as well as other factors leading to the assembly of the Corps of Discovery in late 1803 in Camp Wood, Illinois. In Illinois? Why not St. Louis or St. Charles, from where the team set off in May 1804? What seems puzzling today was a serious matter then! Come and find out.
